The centre commenced operation in Kwong Wah Hospital in 1988 as Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Kwan Fong Child Care Centre, a pioneer occasional child care centre for infants and children in Hong Kong. It was named after a donation from the Kwan Fong Charitable Foundation as "Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Kwan Fong Child Care Centre".

It was relocated to Chuk Yuen Estates (South) in 1995 and became an aided combined child care centre.  The centre was registered under Education Bureau as Kindergarten-cum-Child Care Centre, namely Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Kwan Fong Nursery School, with effect from 1 September 2005.

Aged from zero to three is the crucial period for the brain development of infants and children, which help establishing a network of brain cells and the nervous system. Also known as the development period of their sensory movement.  Our centre was funded by the Quality Education Fund in 2001, organizing programme for the Sensory integration development of infants and children.

Our centre values the emotional development of children and wishs to create an environment that fosters healthy emotional development, making them feeling being love and respect.  In 2004, the Children's Parents' Education Course "Growing with Self-Esteem" (「自尊自信成長樂」) was launched.

In 2009, Leap! was brought to Hong Kong by The Robert H.N. Ho Family Foundation in partnership with Cloud Gate Dance School. Our centre is one of the partner schools of the programme.

In 2011, our centre was committed to the development of Montessori teaching methods, which promotes the learning effectiveness of infants and toddlers with harmony, healthy and natural, independent living attitude, mixed age learning environment and systematically designed teaching aids.

In 2015, the "Smart and Lively, Learning Foundation" - Optimizing Fine Motor Development Programmme has launched under the auspices of the Quality Education Fund.  Children's Sensory perception and muscle capacity will further be enhanced through daily life training and Montessori sensory learning.

In 2015, the SIME-Research on Quality Programme for Infants and Toddlers, which aimed for infants and toddlers aged from zero to three, was conducted in partnership with the Early Childhood Learning Centre of the Education University of Hong Kong.  This study is, the core framework of the Quality Infant and Curriculum. Designed a set of "SIME Quality Infant Curriculum Model" is being designed based on the care and education as well as the core framework of quality programme for infants and toddlers "ITERS".Muscle Development Programmme has launched under the auspices of the Quality Education Fund.  Children's Sensory perception and muscle capacity will further be enhanced through daily life training and Montessori learning sensory.

SIME Course

In 2019, our kindergarten optimized the music curriculum, incorporating elements including singing, rhythm, social games, musical instruments, and music appreciation. The enrichment in music program aims to cultivate children's interest and literacy in music from an early age, so that children enjoy music, show creativity through physical gesture, and lay the foundation for future study of music.

Our school is dedicated to developing Free Play in 2022. Through free play to facilitate children’s autonomy, freedom, and exploration experiences in order to foster children’s knowledge acquisition, language and social skills development, and problem-solving skills, and therefore nurture appropriate values and learning attitudes for children.
